MakeRoll Basics. One lesson a day.

Seven short lessons on making AI video, sent by the MakeRoll bot in Telegram, one a day. Each lesson ends with a task that takes about 10 minutes, so by day 7 you've practised every step once instead of just reading about it.

It's free. There's no card, no trial and nothing that renews. Send /basics stop whenever you want the lessons to stop.

The 7 lessons

What you'll practise

One lesson a day for seven days. Each one ends with a task of about 10 minutes, and the lessons are built from MakeRoll's own published guides and case studies.

  1. Day 1. The first 2 seconds

You can lay any idea out as a four-frame hook and get the reveal inside the first 3 seconds.

10-minute task. Open your notes app and write one idea as four lines, one per frame. Then read frames 1 to 3 out loud with your phone's stopwatch running.

Built from AI video hook structure

  2. Day 2. One character, one want, one obstacle

You leave with a two-character skit where one want meets one obstacle and the last line changes something.

10-minute task. In your notes, write who wants what and who stands in the way. Then write a last line where something has changed, and a one-sentence description of each character to reuse all week.

Built from Four silent AI comedy shorts

  3. Day 3. A 25-second script that survives the voice

Your skit becomes a 25-second script that starts on the first word and reads cleanly out loud.

10-minute task. Rewrite your Day 2 skit as short lines, one speaker each, aiming at 25 seconds. Spell names and numbers the way they should sound. Paste it into your phone's read-aloud feature and listen with your eyes closed.

Built from AI UGC ads case study, eight examples

  4. Day 4. Rights and labels before you post

Every face, voice and song in your idea has a named source, and you know which AI label to switch on.

10-minute task. Make a note called "rights" for your Day 2 idea. Write where every face, voice and song comes from and which label you'll switch on. Then find the AI label setting on your app's upload screen, without posting.

Built from AI video rights checklist

  5. Day 5. Pick the tool for the job, and date the pick

You pick a video tool for a dated reason and rewrite the shot a model is most likely to get wrong.

10-minute task. Answer the four questions for your Day 2 skit and write down your tool with today's date. Then mark each moment that needs hands, readable text or exact contact, and rewrite one.

Built from Best AI video model for UGC

  6. Day 6. Measure it, don't vibe it

You write five pass-or-fail checks with numbers and watch them catch a draft you know is bad.

10-minute task. Write five pass or fail checks for your short, each with a number or a yes or no, like first word by 0.5 s or every name spelled right in the captions. Then try one check on a draft you know is bad, such as one with a silent opening.

Built from UGC agentic pipeline setup guide

  7. Day 7. Your first finished short

You set a publish date for your strongest idea, with your own checks at the top of the script.

10-minute task. Pick your strongest idea from this week, set a publish date, and paste your five checks at the top of the script.

Lesson 1, in full

The bot sends this exact text on day 1, so you can judge the lessons before you open Telegram. Lessons 2 to 7 arrive one a day after you press Start.

The first 2 seconds

Three public reels MakeRoll studied had 1,727,992,414 combined plays on 22 Sep 2026. Take the subjects away and the same skeleton sits under all three.

Frame 1 is familiar, a face or a room or a format people scroll past daily. In frame 2 one element breaks the scene while everything else stays plausible. Frame 3 reveals what the break is, within the first 2 to 3 seconds. Frame 4 pays it off, or loops back to the start.

MakeRoll learned the timing on its own ads. Nobody spoke in the first cut until 1.33 s on average, and Michael sent the openings back. The re-shoot's first word lands at 0.00 s, and a gate now rejects any cut whose first word comes after 0.5 s.

Keep the baseline honest. The median AI TikTok gets 418 views (Riffkit 2026). Structure raises the odds and guarantees nothing.

Today's task, 10 minutes

Open your notes app and write one idea as four lines, one per frame. Then read frames 1 to 3 out loud with your phone's stopwatch running.

What good looks like

Exactly one thing breaks the scene, frame 1 takes under a second, and the reveal lands before the stopwatch reaches 3.

Who it's for

A small daily habit, not a course to binge

Basics suits anyone who wants to try making AI video with a little structure and see how MakeRoll teaches before deciding anything.

Good fit

You're new to AI video and want one small, finished step a day instead of a long playlist.

You already make AI clips and want the checks that keep them shippable: the hook, disclosure, rights and sound.

You're curious about MakeRoll's weekly build room and want to see the teaching first, for free.

Not a fit

You're looking for a promise of views, followers or income. Nothing here promises any of those.

You're under 18. MakeRoll is for people aged 18 or over.

You want critique on your own cuts. Basics has none. In the paid room, the weekly live critique reviews selected submissions.

Start

Open the bot, press Start

On a phone with Telegram installed, the button opens the bot and lesson 1 starts when you press Start. Nothing is charged and the bot asks for no payment details.

Free community

Post your tasks where people make things

The MakeRoll community is a free Telegram group, open to anyone, separate from the paid build room. You don't need it for Basics, but it's the place to show a finished task or ask about one.

  • Start HereHow the group works, pinned and read-only.
  • Show Your WorkPost what you made, Basics tasks included.
  • Questions & HelpAsk when a tool or a step doesn't behave.

Questions

Before you start

Anything else goes to support@makeroll.com.

Is MakeRoll Basics really free?

Yes. You need a Telegram account, which is free. The bot asks for no card or payment details, there's no trial, and nothing renews.

How much time does it take?

About 10 minutes a day for the task, plus a few minutes to read the lesson. One lesson arrives each day for 7 days.

How do I stop the lessons?

Send /basics stop to the bot and no further lessons are sent. If you change your mind, send /basics and it picks up where you left off. The bot sends Basics lessons only to people who started them.

Can I go faster?

Yes. Send /basics next and the next lesson comes straight away, up to 3 lessons in any 24 hours. /basics status shows which lesson you're on.

Will the bot try to sell me a plan?

The last lesson explains once what Weekly and Lifetime add and what they cost. There are no countdowns and no daily sales messages, and Basics doesn't change if you never choose a plan.

Do I need to join the free community?

No. Basics happens in your own chat with the bot. The community is optional: a place to post a finished task or ask about one.

Is the UGC pipeline kit part of Basics?

No. The kit and its agent connect come with Lifetime. The setup guide is public, so you can read every step at makeroll.com/ugc-pipeline/ before deciding anything.

Does Basics promise views or income?

No. It teaches the steps of making and publishing a short AI video with care. Results depend on your work and on the platforms, and MakeRoll doesn't promise views, followers or income.

Can I do it on a computer?

Yes. Sign in to Telegram Web, open @MakeRollMembershipBot, press Start and send /basics. The lessons then reach every device where you use Telegram.

What does the bot keep about me?

Starting the bot shares your Telegram user ID, username and your messages to it. The privacy notice sets out what is kept and why.
